UEFA confirmed that the winners of the Cup of Bulgaria Litex (Lovech) will be at the playoffs (fourth preliminary round) of the newly-formed “Europa League”.

This was made clear with an official letter to the football club.

“After the winner of the 2008/2009 UEFA Cup (FC Shakhtar Donetsk) are already in the next season of the Champion’s League, their reserved place in the “Europa League” season 2009/2010 is now free. Thus the list had to be modified to elect a new team, which will take the place of the last year’s winners. The clubs that won the National Cups of their respective countries have priority in this matter. FC Sion and FC Litex will participate in the playoffs of “Europa League.”
