Veselin Topalov kept his leader position in the April edition of the international rankings of FIDE.

The Bulgarian chess master leads the chart with an ELO coefficient of 2812. He is followed by the current chess king of the planet Viswanathan Anand (2783 points), who will defend his title from Topalov at the end of 2009.

Magnus Karlsen takes the third sport of the rankings with 2770 points. The top ten is complemented by Vladimir Kramnik (2759), Timur Rajabov (2756), Levon Aronian (2754), Dmitri Yakovenko (2753), Alexander Morozevic (2751), Peter Leko (2751) and Alexander Grishtuk (2748).
