“The new faces of labour” presented in Ruse

Under the name “The new faces of labour” the International union “Elias Canetti” organized several events in Ruse between February 3rd and February 13th.

“During the last few years, albeit slowly, the economical and social situation gets better. The main problems of Bulgaria are not the lack of demand for labourers, but the emigration of young and capable cadres and the aging of the population. The level of income is also low and the labour conditions rarely meet European standards”, comments the union,

The first event is the photo exhibition “Working places”. It contains 28 cycles of photographs and was opened on Tuesday, February 3rd, in the exhibition gallery of Ruse. The exposition is provided by the non-profit union Architekturbild. During the days of the exhibition, will be shown the short film “A Note” by the director Kristian Rot.

On February 7th-8th, the union “Elias Canetti” will host the interdisciplinary simposium “The new faces of labour”. Bulgarian and German experts in the fields of economics will discuss the role of labour in both countries and express different viewpoints on it. They will attempt to find out the differences and discuss the directions for the future of labour. The simposium will open on February 7th at 14:00 PM in the “St. Ggeorgi” room of the Town Hall.

The third initiative of the “Canetti” union are a series of “movie nights”, presenting the works of modern Bulgarian and German directors on the topics of labour. The first of the six movies, “The Death of the Labourer” by the director Michael Glavoger, was shown to the Ruse audience on February 4th.
