The International energy forum goes to Sofia instead of Plovdiv

Sofia overtakes the organization of the International energy forum, which had to take place in Plovdiv between April 22nd – 24th. This was confirmed in front of BGNES by the mayor of the city Slavcho Atanasov. The mayor was officially informed by the head of president’s cabinet general Nikola Kolev.

The reasons not to pick Plovdiv this time around is the lack of enough luxurious hotels and president apartments. The mayor said that the Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov went to Plovdiv and along with the mayor personally checked the conditions for guests of highest rank. It turned out that only two hotels are meeting the requirements for the arrival of important figures. The lack of a proper hotel base, infrastructure near the airport and other difficulties made it necessary to move the forum to Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia.
