The EU gives money for gas “interconnection” with Greece and Romania

Part of the 5 billion euro that the European Union provided to fight the financial crisis will be given to Bulgaria, announced the public relations department of the government. The sum will be used to construct a so-called “interconnection” pipe network for gas between Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.

The information was given to the prime minister of Bulgaria Sergey Stanishev during a phone call with the prime minister of the Czech Republic Mirek Topolanek. Topolanek, whose motherland is now a chairman of the European Union, informed the Bulgarian prime minister that the shipments of gas to Bulgaria is among the main topics of the talks between the Russian federation and Ukraine.

The European Commission approved the Bulgarian initiative to send overseers to control the shipment and transit of the natural gas in Ukraine. The approval of both Ukraine and the Russian federation is also guaranteed.
