The costly election campaigns

The most expensive campaign for the 41st parliamentary elections belongs to the Coalition for Bulgaria. The cheapest campaign is the one of the party “Ataka”. The data comes from the Chamber of accounts research on the election expenses, published today.

The socialists spent 1 999 052 leva for their campaign. The Coalition includes seven political foramtions, but most of the money went for the events organized by BSP. From both national subsidy and donations, the red party piled up over 2 million leva. 512 contributors donated a total of 371 600 leva, with donations ranging between 30 and 4800 leva.

The Coalition for Bulgaria also spent the most money on media appearances – 1 337 211 leva.

The Blue coalition had almost th same sum. The union between SDS and DSB gathered a total of 2 029 474 leva for the election events. According to the Chamber of accounts, 1 998 260 leva of them were spent. The contributors were 88 and they’ve gathered a total of 349 248 leva for the democratic idea. Vladimir Kisiov and Ivan Neikov are among the popular names of contributors. They both gave 1500 leva. The Blue coalition also took a loan of 50 000 leva for campaign events. 1 359 461 leva were spent on media appearances and advertising.
