The contract for the production of the new identification documents with biometric data was signed in the Ministry of internal affairs.

The offered price for the contract is 116 million euro. In six months, the system for the production of documents will begin to function properly.

The contract was signed by Veska Davidova and Joachim Visner, managers of “Siemens” EOOD, and the minister of internal affairs Mikhail Mikov.

The new Bulgarian ID documents will be the cheapest in the European Union, with an expected price twice lower than the usual all across Europe.

The contracted company “Siemens” EOOD won the deal after a committee appraised six companies based on their offers for technical solutions of the initial requirements of the government.
