The anniversary festival of the masquerade in Stara Zagora begins

The tenth anniversary festival of the masquerade games in Stara Zagora will begin on March 1st.

International groups from Turkey, Macedonia and Slovenia will present themselves along Bulgarian traditional dancers (kukeri). Delegations of viewers from France and Greece will also attend.

For the first time ever, representatives from the village Elenino will demonstrate the national custom “hamkane”.

Organizing the festival costed 24 thousand leva. The municipality of Stara Zagora provided half of the needed sum. The rest was gathered from donations of private sponsors.
