Stanishev awards Veselin Topalov

The prime minister of Bulgaria Sergey Stanishev awarded Veselin Topalov at the official closing of the semi-final game of the World chess championship. He gave paintings of the famous Bulgarian artist Vladimir Dimitrov – the Master to both chess players – Veselin Topalov and Gata Kamsky – during the official ceremony in the National palace of culture.

Stanishev thanked both players, who were responsible for the great chess event. The prime minister thanked for the dynamic, interesting game which brought much joy to the millions fans of chess not only in Bulgaria, but also abroad. According to the prime minister, the Bulgarian chess federation organized the game very well and conditions were excellent.

“We proved that despite the size of Bulgaria, we can be a great force in chess,” said Stanishev. He personally thanked Veselin Topalov, who brought joy to many Bulgarians with his skill. “We’ve always believed in his intellect,” concluded Stanishev.
