Snow blocked the Bulgarian highways

An avalanche fell on the Petrohan pass and closed it off, announced the Road maintenance agency.

The pass will remain closed off until it has been fully cleared. Yesterday at about 20:00 PM began the first difficulties on the roads because of the lack of maintenance and clearing of the snow that has been falling constantly for the last 24 hours almost everywhere in the country.

The highway Hemus is blocked and was closed off late yesterday.

The movement of cars was stopped because of the many heavy trucks stuck in the snow. The traffic near the village Yana was also stopped. It isn’t yet clear how long will the highway Hemus stay closed, because the heavy trucks need to be pulled out first. One of the maintenance vehicles also got stuck in the snow. Most of the problems stem from the late reaction to the snow, which fell all day yesterday.
