Russians to organize meeting about Burgas – Alexandroupolis

“We will organize a meeting in Burgas to explain the ecological and economical effects of building Burgas – Alexandroupolis”.

This was announced by the chairman of the Group for collaboration with Bulgaria in the Federative council in Russia Victor Gluhih after his meeting with the mayor of Sofia Boiko Borisov.

Gluhih explained, that citizens of the russian city Primorsk – where another such petrol pipe was already built – will also participate in the meeting. He added, that the discussion with the Sofia mayor also covered topics like the projects “Southern Stream” and the Belene Nuclear Power Plant.

The mayor of Sofia explained, that no one was informed wheter Burgas will be endangered ecologically by the petrol pipe.

“I explained the worries of the citizens of Burgas. The Russian side has a package of countermeasures, which they will offer to the people of the region”, added Borisov.

The participation of Sofia in the Year of Bulgaria in Russia in 2009 was also discussed.
