Rear admiral Hristo Hristov is a honorary citizen of Burgas

The mayor of the municipality of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov awarded the rear admiral Hristo Hristov with the title honorary citizen of Burgas for his long and faithful service to the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The awarding took place during the ceremony for the 130th anniversary of the Bulgarian Navy in the main hall of the Military club.

Because of ill health, rear admiral Hristov could not receive his honorary title in person. The mayor Dimitar Hristov wished him speedy recovery and a long career in service of Bulgaria ahead.

The rear admiral Hristo Hristov was born in the city Harmanli. He graduated with excellence the Navy University “Nikola Vaptsarov” in Varna. He was immediately appointed to a post in the naval base in Burgas, where he serves for 35 years – from lieutenant to a rear admiral and base commander. He is responsible for the practical application of the scientific accomplishments of the research institutes of the navy.

The accomplishments during his service in the naval base include: the construction of the first modern training center for the officer staff of the navy; over twenty training areas for the ship staff; cinema, culture center, library and a sport hall of the base. He is the first commander of the base with the high rank of a rear admiral.
