Parvanov: Bokova has all the qualities to lead UNESCO

Ambassador Bokova has all the qualities needed to become the head of UNESCO and much has been done for her candidature, said the president Georgi Parvanov when asked if Irina Bokova has a chance to become the Director General of the organization.

“What is more important,” added Parvanov, “is that we showed not only our unique cultural and historical achievements, but also showed our cultural politics that has been safekeeping the national heritage for decades. This surely is the best advertisement we can make for the cultural aspects of Bulgaira.”

The president Parvanov attended the International conferece for the “Safekeeping of the cultural heritage and cultural variety – an answer for globalization”. Representatives of 44 countries attended the forum.

In his speech at the opening, the president said that “Tthe world may be facing a global financial crisis, but it also has non-material values”.
