New-found unique golden treasure exhibited in the National History Museum

A new-found golden treasure from the Bronze Age will be presented tomorrow at 11:00a.m. at the National Historical Museum in the presence of the Culture Minister Professor Stefan Danailov.

During the period June – October a team under the leadership of Dr. Borislav Borislavov (University of Sofia ‘Kliment Ohridski’) and Nadezhda Ivanova excavated a famous hill in the village of Izvorovo, Harmanly Municipality.

The excavations were financed through the National Historical Museum from the Ministry of Culture, while the sum of 22 000 leva was granted from the reserves of the Ministry of Culture, personally by Stefan Danailov.

The discovery is unique not only for Bulgaria and will help throw light on one of the less known periods of history of Bulgarian lands and the European continent.
