KZK approaches six large chain stores

The Commission for protection of competition (KZK) will begin legal procedures and investigation of possible law violations by several large chain stores – “Metro Cash & Carry” EOOD, “Billa Bulgaria” EOOD, “Kaufland Bulgaria” EOOD, “Piccadilly” AD, “Maxima Bulgaria” EOOD and “Hit hypermarket” EOOD.

The legal procedures are based on several complaints from the Confederation of employers and industrialists of Bulgaria (KRIB) and their own research, which show forbidden vertical agreements and anti-competition practices used by the large chain stores.

The violations pointed out by KRIB are ascertained in several documents of EU institutions. According to these documents, the European commission and the EU members are under the obligation to take action to identify and correct any potential anti-competition practices that harm the market.
