The European Commissioner for Consumer Protection Meglena Kuneva explained the situation of the debates for the nuclear power reactors of “Kozloduy” yesterday, during a TV show on Nova TV.

“The fifth and sixth reactors work and they were modernized with European money. When the EU began work with us, it stated the diagnosis of the remaining reactors, pronouncing them unfit for modernization. Our reasearches show their complete safety for exploitation, but none of the EU representatives confirmed that.

When the negotiations began, Bulgaria entered the engagement to turn off the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th blocks of the Nuclear power plant “Kozloduy”. I defended these reactors and did all I could many times. I even involved the government,” noted Kuneva.
