GERB will form the government on their own

GERB will form their own government and will rely on political support in the parliament. This was made clear after the negotiations between GERB and the Blue coalition in the parliament.

The chairman of GERB offered the Blue coalition a Memorandum for political co-operation and support of the government.

At the consultations between the two political parties, they negotiated the discussion of the Memorandum over the next few days. The Blue coalition will present their proposals on Friday.

Tsvetan Tsvetanov emphasized that GERB seeks serious political support.

“The formula for the future mechanics of government will be defined by GERB. We hope that they will be successful”, said the leader of the Blue coalition Martin Dimitrov.

Ivan Kostov noted that GERB will form their own government, and will rely on support from other political powers.

Kostov also noted that the memorandum can’t guarantee the agreement on all government decisions over the next four years. “We can’t give our trust with a single document for the entire duration of their government”, emphasized Kostov.

Tsvetanov informed that GERB will continue their talks with Ataka and RZS and that GERB will seek a wider support for the future changes, including changes in the Constitution.

Tsvetanov wasn’t clear on the intended changes in the Constitution, but stated that the changes are needed.

“Boiko Borisov is the person that will define this project of the new government,” stated Tsvetanov just after his meeting with the leader of Ataka Volen Siderov.

“GERB will bear the entire responsibility for the government”, noted Tsvetanov. He also said that GERB will rely on experts from other political parties as well, noting their importance.
