Foreigners spent 15 million euro for rural and ecological tourism in Bulgaria

This year’s income from ecological, adventurous and rural tourism for foreigners visiting Bulgaria is between 13 and 15 million EUR.

This was announced by the chairman of the Bulgarian association for alternative tourism Liubomir Popiordanov.

According to him, that’s 1,5% of the entire tourism income in Bulgaria.

The individual tourists in Bulgaria are 30% of all.

Popiordanov suggests an even higher percentage of Bulgarians taking part in this kind of tourism.

Unlike the foreign guests, which spend an average of 8-10 vacation days in the country, Bulgarians try non-conventional destinations and rural tourism for shorter periods, usually during the weekend.

They are, however, regular visitors and continue their short vacations until the end of the autumn and even during the winter, noted the association.
