Five thousand signatures in defence of Vitosha

For two weeks, over five thousand people signed the petition in defence of Vitosha mountain – and against the construction of new ski tracks, inform from the coalition “For the nature in Bulgaria”. The coalition of 30 non-governmental organizations and citizen unions “For the nature of Bulgaria” sent it’s negative opinion on the intentions for construction of an even larger ski zone in the natural park Vitosha, planned by the “Vitosha ski” AD company.

“Vitosha ski” AD belongs to an off-shore company and practically owns all lifts and ski equipment in Vitosha, but does not own the ski tracks, which belong to the national forest fund. The company plans to make the ski zone of Vitosha several times larger, despite it being forbidden in the management plans of the natural park. According to the law, these plans are valid for the next 10 years, inform from the coalition.
