Election committee puts an end to the “election tourism”

“Foreigners living in Bulgaria will be able to vote in the elections for Bulgarian deputees in the European parliament if they apply in their respective municipalities by April 27th”, announced Alexander Alexandrov, member of the Central election committee (CIK) for the EU parliament elections, during the first meeting of the committee.

The vice-chairman of CIK Biser Troyanov explained that this ensures that only citizens who had lived during the last three months on EU territory will have a right to vote. Bulgarian emmigrants, who have been out of the country for very long will also be unable to vote.

“This requirement will limit the overall number of voters”, explained Trayanov.
