Earthquake with a 5.2 magnitude shook Southwestern Bulgaria

An earthquake with an epicenter in Macedonia was felt in the Bulgarian capital Sofia and many other Bulgarian cities, announced the Geophysical institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAN).

The epicenter of the earthquake was some 160 kilometres away to the southwest of Sofia, outside Bulgarian borders, clarifies the Ministry of emergencies.

The earthquake was with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale.

BAN announced that the data from the earthquake is still under research and they can’t announce further details.

So far, there have been no signals for material damages after the earthquake, which was felt mainly throughout the southwestern part of Bulgaria.
