Cheaper medicine after June 1st

The prices of medicine will lower after June 1st, where the new positive list will be introduced to the healthcare fund. This information was confirmed by the healthcare minister Evgenii Zhelev. He also commented, that preserving the patient’s interest from the pharmaceutical companies is “very hard work”.

According to dr. Zhelev, an “intermediate option” is sought, which will not remove many medicines from the list, but the prices will still decrease. The minister commented that the pharmaceutical branch does not experience losses – the question is how big the profits will be.

No one is running away from a guaranteed market for 1 billion leva, added dr. Zhelev. He did not comment if the budget of the healthcare fund will be enough to cover the expenses for medicine under the new regime.
