Busy traffic at the major customs offices

The traffic through the Major customs offices in Bulgaria is very intensive. The traffic situation is worst at the customs offices “Kalotina”, “Kulata”, “Captain Andreevo” and Danube bridge. The flow of gastarbeiters coming home for the summer holidays is still going strong. The traffic is several times heavier than during the inactive seasons.

The customs office “Kalotina” introduced a new traffic organization. The light vehicles with registration numbers that come from countries – members of the European Union, including Bulgarian vehicles, pass through the customs office without waiting for the universal electronic card and won’t have to stop to purchase vignette stickers from the offices of “Road taxes and permissions” department. European citizens will have to purchase vignettes at the closest gas stations.

The customs office “Captain Andreevo” also introduced a new organization for traffic. The staff separated three corridors for the coming vehicles from countries that are not members of the EU. They will line up for the universal electronic card. The other seven lanes will serve vehicles from the EU, which will not require the universal electronic card.

Bulgarian citizens going to or returning from Turkey are advised to use the customs offices Lesovo and Malko Tarnovo.
