Bulgarian athletes grab 16 medals in Greece

Bulgarian athletes won 16 medals in the Balkan athletics competition for young men and women in Shimatari (Athens, Greece).

In the second day of the competition, the Bulgarian athletes won respectively: Teo Petrov – 200 m. race (21,50 sec.), Martin Arnaudov – 110 m. hurdle race (13, 79 sec.), Atanas Papozov – hammer throwing (63,71 m.) and Marietta Kutzarova – shot put (13,76 m).

Silver medals went to: Ivanka Toneva – heptathlon (4235 points) and Galina Nikolova – high jump (166 cm). Bronze medals went to: Milena Mitkova – long jump (5,95 m.), Georgi Tsonev – triple jump (15,15 m.) and the 4 x 400 metres relay team (3:20,31 minutes). Zdravko Dimitrov set the new national record for hammer throwing for young men – 67,48 m.

During the first day of the competition, the Bulgarian champions were: Teo Petrov – 100 m. race (10,86 sec.), Daniel Dobrev – long jump (7,37 m.) and the 4 x 100 m. relay team (Ognian Ognianov, Petar Kremenski, Georgi Ganchev, Teo Petrov) (41, 61 sec.). Silver medals went to: Eli Petkova – 100 m. race (12,64 sec.) and Georgi Ganchev – 400 m. race (48,43 sec.) Bronze medals went to Grigoria Naneva – discus throwing (44,15 m.) and Polina Mitova – pole vault (3,20 m.).
