Bulgaria to participate in ASEM summit for the first time

The Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov will take part in the Seventh summit of the countries from the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Beijing, China.

The forum gathers the leaders of the 27 EU member states and their partners from 16 Asian countries.

The leaders will discuss the international economic and financial situation, the problems connected with the food security and the readiness to manage natural disasters, the energy security and the climate changes as well as the deepening of the dialogue between the civilizations.

Bulgaria participates for the first time in the summit. President Parvanov will speak about the problems of the energy security and the dialogue between the civilizations.

Within the forum, the Bulgarian president will talk tete-a-tete with the president of Indonesia and the prime-minsters of Vietnam and India.
