Bulgaria keeps her place in the UEFA rankings

Bulgaria will be 17th in the UEFA rankings for European club tournaments for the next season. This was made clear by the falling off of the Czech team Slavya (Prague) from the tournament for the UEFA cup. The Czechs lost their home game to Hamburger by 0:2. They are leaving the competition for sure, even though they have one more game to play in the F group – with AFC Ajax.

The Czech Republic was the only country that could move Bulgaria down from the 17th position. Bulgaria finished this year’s European tournament with a coefficient of 2,250 points – bringing her total points for the last five years to 21,250. The Czech Republic, is 18th in the rankings with 20,500 points. The maximum points they can gain from a success of Slavya over Ajax in Amsterdam, would bring them to 21,000 points. Thus, even by a small margin, Bulgaria will keep the 17th position for sure.
