Bulgaria improves the management of Eurofunds

Bulgaria has improved the management of the European funds, said the head of the “Enlargement” department of the European Commission Michael Lee and revealed that he came to Bulgaria because he was asked by the European Enlargement commissioner-designate Ollie Rehn.

“We had a long discussion with Plugchieva, Ivanovski. And I had the privilege to speak with the Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev”, said Michael Lee after his meetings in the Ministry council.

The head of the “Enlargement” department said that during the talks he expressed the satisfaction of the European Commission of the accomplishments of Plugchieva and Ivanovski regarding the tightening of control of fund absorption within the programs.

Lee reminded that last week Ollie Rehn also expressed his approval of the work of Plugchieva and Ivanovski with the tightening of control.

“We noticed real improvement in the structural management and especially in the Central financing unit. We think that these improvements include the hiring of new personnel and the tightening of the control mechanisms. Still, time is needed for results of the changes”, concluded Lee.
