Bulgaria attracts investments in “Open Air Malls”

Submitted on Monday, 10 November 2008No Comment

“The concept of “Open Air Malls” suits Bulgaria a lot – both from economical viewpoint and weather-wise.” This was the comment of Mariela Ostend, investments director of ZBS EOOD. The association is an investor of the first ever “Open Air Mall” in the country. According to schedule, it should be completed and open in 2010 in Burgas.

Named “The Strand”, the new project involves 30 000 sq. metres market grounds, over 8 000 sq. metres pedestrian zones and a 26 000 sq. metres one-level parking lot. The mall will provide space for over 50 famous international chain stores.

In this sort of malls, the shops and the coffee-houses are located along the length of “streets”, allowing the customers to walk in greener, more welcoming surroundings. The open spaces, the marketplaces and the wide pedestrian zones re-create the feel of a main trading street – with places to purchase, places to take a rest, etc. – but at a modern, accessible location.
