Bulgare takes the Russian audience by storm

2009 is the year of Bulgaria and Russia. Many significant cultural events are expected all across Russia. One of the biggest events will be the historic spectacle of the national folklore ensemble “Bulgare” – “Bulgaria throughout the centuries”.

The extraordinary, massive spectacle will be the first such Bulgarian-Russian co-production in history. Bulgaria and Russia have several co-productions, but in the cinema medium: “Rebels at Shipka”, “Turkish gambit” and others. Up to now, there have been no onstage co-productions.

Bulgarian and Russian dancers will co-operate to show the audiences the fourteen-century-long history of Bulgaria. The performance will show in a dramatic way the struggles of ancient Bulgarians. The spectacle will be presented in Russian, to make it more accessible to the Russian audiences.
