The governmental press office announced that the prime minister Boiko Borisov visited the Holy Synod today and met the patriarch Maxim and the synod members.

During the meeting, the Bulgarian patriarch himself read a congratulation note to Boiko Borisov for his election as a prime minister and gave Borisov an icon of the Virgin Mary.

“Today, along with the Holy members of the Synod, we rejoice for your success and the high level of trust of the Bulgarian voters in you. The citizens believed in Your principles, strictness and loyalty to your duty. We’re wishing you strong health, fruitful successes in your endeavors and plentiful aid from God for the just cause that benefits the Christian church and our beloved Homeland”, said patriarch Maxim in his letter.

During the meeting, the two discussed matters regarding the Bulgarian orthodox church and the lawsuit against the country sent to the European court of human rights, notes the message.
