A turn of events in Bulgaria

The website of the news television N-TV published information from Elena Lalova from the DPA agency, called “A turn of events in Bulgaria”.

According to the reporter, the new prime minister of Bulgaria Boiko Borisov tightened the control of the European funds in the customs offices and the taxation institutions. He also struggles to overcome corruption and fraud and to bring back the EU funds of over 500 million EUR to Bulgaria – funds that were blocked a year ago due to corruption and misuse.

The publication cites data from sociology research, according to which nearly two thirds of the Bulgarian population trusts the prime minister and his measures.

At the same time, the socialist opposition and some of the democratic parties openly express their distaste for the authoritarian behavior of Borisov.
