110th anniversary of the Bulgarian Iron church in Istanbul

The Bulgarian orthodox church in Istanbul “St. Stefan” celebrates it’s 110th anniversary this year. The anniversary was noted with a concert in Bulgaria on September 8th (Birth of the Virgin Mary). On this day, in 1898, the church was officially opened by the exarch Iosif I in Istanbul. Now the symbol of Bulgarian orthodoxy in Turkey – known as the Iron church – celebrated it’s anniversary with a concert on December 27th – the day of St. Stefan.

The “Bulgarian orthodox church “St. Stefan in Istanbul” foundation organized the second concert on the third day of Christmas, when the Orthodox church celebrates the memory of St. Stefan.
